Yolo Hostel

The alarm kept going off every hour throughout all three nights, which got frustrating. The rooms are small, with no more than four beds, so there’s a bit more privacy than you usually get in a hostel. Yolo has a nice kitchen and clean bathrooms, and the apartments feel cosy. Safety was good, with lockers that lock, though there isn’t much wardrobe space for larger clothes. All in all, I’d recommend staying here in Budapest.

We booked a two-floor room for our group of six, three kids and two adults. The rooms looked nice, and being right in the centre made it easier to figure out where to go. The administrator only came to see us once, but used that time to explain the rules and share useful information. We liked the hostel.

When we arrived, they said we could stay only two nights, even though we had booked and received confirmation for four. We agreed to a later checkout at least, but at noon the cleaner rushed into our room, said the information was “bad,” and told us to leave five hours before our agreed time. The staff couldn’t communicate with customers or each other. The rooms were overbooked, and basic things like the shower and door locks didn’t work. This place sucks.

The girls’ bathroom wasn’t working while we were there, so they had to use the boys’ one. The AC was leaking badly, and there was barely enough room to walk between the beds. The place was dirty and cramped, easily the worst hostel I’ve stayed in.
