The cafe and restaurant had such a welcoming feel, and the staff were lovely. The menu was broad, the food was great, and the prices were fair. Guests also get 10% off. If I could rate the restaurant separately, I'd give it five stars. The room service was excellent too, and the team went out of their way to help, even when I asked for something unusual like cat food for the resident cat who visited a few times. I stayed in the Deluxe Suite - Room HongKong at S e a h o u s e B a l i. It's a spacious, nicely presented place with Balinese decor, an open layout, sliding doors, one double bed, two single sleeper couches, a living area with a couch and TV, and a separate back verandah. The bathroom is separate and large, with a shower and a big bath. The pressure was great and the bath filled quickly, though I didn't try the shower. There's a safe, kettle, coffee, and tea. The view wasn't much to look at, just neighboring accommodation and backyards. Be ready for five flights of stairs. There's no lift, and I was out of breath by the top, so it may be hard for older guests. I got a welcome drink at reception. When I arrived, all the doors were open, the AC was off, and the room was hot. The fridge was unplugged too. I plugged both the fridge and AC in myself, and they cooled the room well. Staff should have that done before guests arrive. There was no pool, and I had no mosquito problems. The big drawback was the nighttime noise from nearby clubs and pubs. You could hear karaoke, music, people talking, and dogs barking into the early morning. The suite isn't soundproof, so you hear everything, and it was impossible to sleep. During the day, though, the HongKong Suite was lovely. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to people who like nightlife, or don't mind the noise. The location is convenient, near everything.

The rooms were pretty good, and I stayed on the top floor in the Bali Room. Service was excellent and attentive, and the food was great for prices lower than you'd expect for the quality. But people from the street were allowed to come in, drink, and smoke all over the place, making it impossible to taste the food. Staff seemed too afraid to do anything about it. It felt strange that those visitors had more access than hotel guests. It could be a five-star place, but until the staff's attitude changes, it's a three-star experience at best. I'd go somewhere else.

The ribs tasted pretty good, though the French fries weren't crispy. I paid rp 120k per person for 300mg of ribs. I was unlucky with the seat, though, since the man next to me smoked the whole evening. Even so, it's a lovely restaurant and I'd still recommend a visit.

Seahouse, thankyou! The carpentry is a pleasure to look at, simple but clever and refined, and the stonework and lighting are great. There's a long, narrow garden bed with an organic shape that feels efficient, exotic, and stunning. The Balinese smiles were genuine, calming, and damn helpful. I hope the surrounding streetscape follows this example and grows around it, near that once world-class Paradiso beach, now deeply challenged and tormented by plastic.

The room was clean when I arrived, and the linens were tidy. The bed had four pillows, good blackout, and a pleasant little mood lamp, though the room itself was narrow. I could hear the neighbors through the poor soundproofing, and the TV was too small. Wi-Fi was steady, but there were few outlets and none beside the TV. The welcome was warm, check-in was quick, they brought my luggage to the room, and replies on WhatsApp were fast. They gave me orange juice, too. At checkout, you have to hand back the key, which seems less simple than taking a deposit. It's a well-located, clean, welcoming hotel, handy near the beach and other amenities whether you've rented a scooter or not. Good value overall for a short stay. The bathroom was clean and functional with hot water, but only basic soap. They provided two large towels, no hand towels, and a fridge that was switched off when I arrived. The free water was filtered tap water rather than branded bottled water, and other amenities were basic. One downside is luggage storage. It costs €5 per day from the third day, despite being advertised as free for stays over three days. A friendly scooter rental company might save you needing storage. Nice little decor and a complimentary juice are about the only extras, so the noise, missing small amenities, and luggage charge take away from the charm. I'd score it 75/100.
