Manikan House

Staying here made my first trip to Bali feel special. Gungde and his family were so welcoming that I felt at home. The apartment sits within the family property, tucked away from the street noise, and it’s an easy distance from Ubud’s main center. Inside, it was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with lush flowers and trees all around. I enjoyed breakfast on the porch each morning, keeping food in the apartment fridge, and found several nearby restaurants serving really good food at reasonable prices. I’d happily stay here again when I return.

For the Ubud festival, Gungde’s place was a handy base: I could walk to the venue in 10 minutes. There’s a convenience store nearby, and although the neighborhood gets quite dark at night, it felt safe. The room was clean and comfortable, just what mattered most to me. Gungde responded quickly, and his dad and family were a big help while I was there. I’d be glad to stay at Manikan House again.

The surroundings have chickens and pigs, so there was some crowing in the mornings and late evenings, plus a slight smell when airing the room out. Given Ubud’s setting, I found it completely manageable. The building’s interior and facilities were excellent, and the host family was wonderfully kind. The price also seemed almost questionably cheap for what was offered. Gungde can arrange a scooter rental, and on our departure day he provided a paid transfer to Central. I’d highly recommend staying here. Terima kasih!
