The room was tiny, smelled of pee, and had no curtains. It looked nothing like the booking site photos, which was extremely disappointing. The hotel keeps pestering me to take down my booking review. I couldn’t recommend staying here.

We slept really well in the comfortable bed, and even though our room faced the front, it was quiet. The mountain view was lovely. Everything was clean, from the room to the shared guest areas, and the decor felt fairly modern and well looked after. The location is central, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the main centre. Check-in and checkout were both quick and easy. The gentleman who welcomed us was friendly and accommodating, and the person working when we left was just as pleasant and suggested things to see. That’s good customer service, and the Cherry Tree knows how to provide it. Thanks for a great stay. I’ll stay again when I’m in the area and recommend it to other travellers.

The breakfast had beautiful choices, and I was warmly welcomed by friendly staff. The guesthouse is clean and centrally located. But my single room was the smallest I’ve ever stayed in. The furniture was old and poor quality, though it did its job. The light above the bed didn’t work, and the cover over the bathroom light was missing, which put me off taking a shower. The carpet also needs replacing. I paid a little over €75, and if I’d booked earlier, I think I’d have spent a bit more on a hotel instead.

The location was perfect, just a short stroll to the town centre, with pubs, restaurants, and plenty of cafés nearby. A lovely host greeted me and showed me to my room. I’d booked a double but was given a family room, which was spacious and large. There was no breakfast, but I knew that before arriving. The dining areas were left open, so I presume guests could bring their own food and eat there. The one difficulty was the only window, a skylight. To open or close it, or adjust the blind, I had to stand on the bed and use the long pole left in the room. Luckily, the room was large enough that I didn’t feel too claustrophobic.

The beds were comfortable, though after a few drinks we’d have slept anyway. We got lost at first because Google Maps sent us to another house further down the road with the same name. We only had one room key, and one of the two front door keys we were given didn’t work. At about 1am I had to ring the bell for around 10 minutes to get in. I tried the phone number too, but it rang out. The hostess seemed quite unpleasant about having to let us in. We woke at 9.40 and went for breakfast, which we wished we hadn’t bothered with. We asked for eggs and said we’d have two full Irish breakfasts, but the photos show what we actually got between two people. The bread was stale for toasting. They say you get what you pay for, and in this case that was certainly true. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Awful place!
