Eric made the stay for us. Nothing seemed like too much trouble, and he even took our bags down to the ferry terminal when we left. The cooked breakfast was just right, with fruit and cereal available too. Guests can also use a fridge-freezer, microwave and toaster in the dining room. The Adelphi is an old house, as you’d expect in Douglas, and sits up a hill from Broadway on the promenade. Bus stops, shops and other amenities are close, and it’s an easy walk to the horse-drawn trams and electric trains. We had a lovely four-night stay. Ten out of ten for Eric and the team.

The walk into the centre took about 5-10 minutes, and the room was a decent size, clean and had the facilities I expected. Breakfast was good too. The host kept offering me more food, which was lovely but not great for my waistline 😂. The people who run the guest house were so kind and helpful, and gave me ideas for places to visit. I’d recommend staying here.

Eric, the owner, was lovely and gave us helpful advice on getting around and finding places to eat. We stayed for two nights. The place was spotless, breakfast was good, and the promenade was only a few minutes away on foot. The walk back has a bit of a hill, but we managed it without any trouble.

The owners were friendly and worked around my request for a late check-in. They even called that afternoon to make sure everything was sorted. The rooms were very clean and had everything I needed, and breakfast was very good with options to suit different preferences. A lovely place to stay while visiting the IOM, and I’d happily recommend it.

The owners were genuinely nice and helpful, and the nearby bus stops were handy. Our double room was adequate and the bed was comfortable. It had a wall safe, tea-making supplies, a hair dryer, and an ironing board and iron. The cooked breakfast was available if you wanted it, with an egg, bacon, sausage, hash brown, tomato and baked beans; cereal and fruit were there too. Tea or coffee could be refilled, and you could ask for more toast. Boiled eggs were another option, and kippers could be arranged with a day's notice. The building itself was the main problem for me. It’s an old guest house on a steep hill, with steep steps at the entrance and a narrow, steep staircase up to the rooms. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with mobility problems. The small en-suite was awkward as well: the shower door hit the toilet, leaving only a narrow gap to squeeze through. We managed, but we’re not large. The owner said he planned to install sliding doors after the season. I’d read some reviews before our stay about two weeks ago, but decided to try it. As soon as we arrived, I wasn’t impressed and would have gone elsewhere if I could have persuaded my husband. We enjoyed our time on the Isle of Man and would return to the island, but not to the Adelphi Guest House. It was a cheap break.
