The place badly needs updating; travel lodges look better. Still, the room was clean and the bed comfortable, which is usually all I need. Using the pool was good as long as there weren't too many kids around. We took our room towels down, though you can hire them. We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely. Stephen's customer service was top notch, and at one point he was running the whole thing alone. He needs some help. What's missing is a quieter spot to have a drink and socialize at night, away from the club-like atmosphere. Our older family members didn't enjoy that at all.

The restaurant was the best part of the hotel. The cooked dishes from the kitchen were beautifully presented and really high quality, though the seafood on the cold buffet didn’t feel chilled enough. Our room was clean, but tiny and dated. I wouldn’t recommend the bathrooms for anyone with mobility problems. The bath angles made getting in awkward, and the old bath mats stayed slippery even after soaking. After someone fell, notices about using the mats appeared in the bathrooms. Some tubs had rails, but they were too far from the wall and not always placed well for shorter older guests. If a vulnerable person slipped while holding one, their arm could easily get trapped. It’s a pleasant hotel, though showing its age, but those safety concerns would stop me recommending it.

My father had fond memories of staying here with his family for years, and he wanted to bring us because he thought it was still as lovely as before. We’d also visited the year before our recent stay, about four months ago. Sadly, it doesn’t come close to the four-star standard it still claims. Maybe it did years ago, but not now. On both visits, money disappeared from my mother’s purse in our room. It was £5 the first time, and she didn’t report it because she thought it might have been misplaced. The second time, £50 went missing, and it was hard to brush off. We had a “do not disturb” sign up, yet someone still entered the room. Management didn’t believe us when we reported it, and we left feeling dismissed and deeply upset. We’re a large family, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t notice. Staff said nothing had ever been stolen there. While looking at other reviews, I found one saying a guest’s debit card had been stolen at the hotel, posted only three years ago. I’ll attach it for reference. It makes me think there may be an ongoing issue being ignored, and I sincerely hope it gets properly investigated. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We enjoyed the walk into the centre, about 15 minutes, and the shower had a good strong flow. Our room rate included the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, which felt like good value. We paid extra for a sea view, and it was worth it, plus we added breakfast. There was a decent choice, from hot dishes to continental food and fruit, and the staff were friendly. A couple of small drawbacks: no socket near the bed, and the toilet flush was unreliable. We’d definitely stay again.
