Bunk Hostel Delhi

The washroom was a little broken and needs maintenance, but I still enjoyed my five-to-six-day stay and would recommend the hotel. The staff were welcoming and kind. The security guard was particularly helpful, showing me around the local market and sharing useful tips.

Housekeeping and customer service were practically nonexistent. We asked at the front desk five or six times a day for our room to be cleaned, and they refused. Staff were impolite and dismissive, repeatedly saying, “We are working on it,” without doing anything or helping us. The online photos are completely misleading, and the property looks nothing like them. Booking this hostel was by far our worst decision on the Delhi trip. Save your money and sanity, avoid it.

After I paid in full, the receptionist’s attitude changed. When I asked about the delayed check-in politely, I got a rude and disrespectful reply, then was told, “then go, you can cancel” instead of being helped. I had a very bad stay, with no basic courtesy or customer care. One of my worst hostel experiences. I wouldn’t recommend it to solo travelers or anyone expecting respectful treatment.

I stayed for three months in 2023 and really enjoyed it. I hope to come back soon, but there are things that could be better for women. The form should offer curtains for travelers who want privacy while sleeping. It felt a little uncomfortable having a male cleaner, especially in Delhi, and I also saw men coming into the female dorm at night. One man who seemed to have authority over the property came in to hug the receptionist, who had worked at another hostel in the same place for a long time. Things need more discipline, with women’s comfort in mind. Also, the door should be left open, because it was difficult when it was locked and I had to call out every day after coming back from work. I’d like the place to improve for women so it feels even better.
