OYO Flagship 2838 Shree Guest House

The location is the one good thing about this guest house. The AC and geyser work well too. Otherwise it's one of the worst guest houses in Kolkata and feels substandard. Don't expect good service, and there's a sign saying outside food isn't allowed. There's no complimentary mineral water, and food orders take ages. Basic hotel manners are missing, like a bunch of undergraduates are running the place.

The desk staff made a false commitment about checkout. I left the room for some work and was told I could leave my luggage outside and that checkout wasn't complete before 11 am. I returned at 10:30 am and asked them to open my room, but they said they had checked me out. This guest house is substandard, with poor service, delayed food orders, no complimentary mineral water and a sign saying outside food isn't allowed. The AC and geyser do work well, but don't expect quality service or basic hotel manners.

The listing on booking.com showed plenty of amenities, but once I arrived, several things were missing or out of order. There was no table or chair, the TV set top box had been removed, and the intercom didn't work. The receptionist told me those were the only rooms available. The blanket was stained and torn. I'd suggest checking the room before booking, since the pictures weren't reliable.

The manager was pleasant, but the staff didn't seem professional, and the room itself was just ordinary. The phone and TV weren't working. Dust had built up on the window, bathroom glass, taps, and even the window rod. The toilet still had black marks and hadn't been fully cleaned, and the hangers were dusty too. There were plenty of other issues.
