OYO 9748 Hotel Girgaon Palace

Out of the three hotels I stayed at in Mumbai, this was the best. The room had enough space, and I enjoyed my three days there. A few things could be better: the bathroom, and getting water to guests on time. The bedsheet had cigarette holes, and the room smelled of cigarettes. I asked staff for some scent, but they didn't provide any. Online prices keep changing, sometimes going higher than seems justified, and you can find better rooms for that price.

The whole thing started with a price mismatch. My friend had called ahead and spoken to someone, maybe the receptionist or someone in charge, who quoted one rate. When we got there, that same person asked for much more. My friend reminded him about the call, and he snapped, "Nahi milega, jao." Those were his exact words. His attitude had been snobbish and unwelcoming from the moment we entered the lobby, even though we stayed polite. When my friend told him to be respectful if he was running a hotel, he couldn't handle being answered back and threatened to call the police for no reason. Eventually we lost our temper and raised our voices. Then he turned to me and said, "Behen, maine kya galat bola?" I was shocked. He was clearly in the wrong. We had asked a simple question, and he responded with aggression and threats. We told him to call the police if he thought he was right, reminded him our vehicle number was on CCTV, and stormed out. He kept shouting that he wasn't just an employee but the owner. Hard to believe, given how immature he acted. Maybe he was the owner's son? Either way, it was a horrible experience, and I hope no one else goes through it. I would never recommend this hotel.

On Sunday evening we went to the Kotachiwadi Christmas event, and it was so crowded that we started feeling unwell. We stepped into the hotel lobby to rest for a bit. Mr Yogesh welcomed us and offered water and coffee, and was incredibly helpful. A father came in with his special needs son, and Mr ayogesh invited them to sit and take a rest as well. Thank you, Mr Yogesh, for showing such real hospitality. Your customer service is much appreciated. God bless.

There was a lift, and the hotel sits in a quiet heritage locality despite being in a busy area. The rooms were basic but comfortable, though the bathroom was small and there was no intercom in the room.
