I’ve rarely had a worse hospitality experience. Our stay at Berry Hills Resort was a complete disappointment. The room was dirty, the linens didn’t feel fresh, and the maintenance seemed neglected. For a place calling itself a resort, the standard felt more like a budget lodge. On top of that, the service was shockingly poor. Staff seemed uninterested and untrained, and every request felt like a burden. There was no warmth or professionalism. We paid a premium, yet repeated requests for an extra blanket during the cold weather went nowhere. It never arrived. Either staff forgot or they didn’t care enough to bring it. We spent the night uncomfortable and cold. The place needs serious improvement in its cleanliness, service, staff attitude, and overall management.

The refusal to give us an extra blanket ruined our stay. The night was cold, and when we asked for one, we were told no straight away. Several rooms were empty, so we couldn’t see a valid reason to refuse. When we asked if we were expected to sleep in the cold, the answer was simply yes, they couldn’t provide an extra blanket. We also contacted the owner or manager hoping for help, but got the same reply. We’d already paid and had no choice but to spend two nights cold. We travel often in India and abroad and have never had such a basic request denied. We also asked for the food to be made with less spice and were told it would be spicy only, so we couldn’t enjoy our meals either. Hospitality should mean keeping guests comfortable, especially with something as basic as a warm, restful night. This was an extremely disappointing experience, far below the standard we expect.

Please don’t choose this resort. The road to get there is terrible, there’s basically no proper road. The breakfast wasn’t bad, and the view wasn’t bad either, but it wasn’t worth 4000 bucks a day. They didn’t give us a TV remote. The bed and blanket were dirty, there’s no lawn despite what the photos online show, and the rooms are very cold. The heater took 45 minutes to work properly.

The food was amazing, and the staff were really nice. It’s a decent hotel for the price, and they can arrange an auto or car for local trips and visits to the market.

The canteen was the one part I appreciated: the staff were courteous and the food was decent. The rest of our family stay was a letdown. The rooms were tiny and poorly kept, and the extra blanket I asked for because my kids were cold never arrived. The road was far worse than described. I was told there’d be only 100 meters of mud, but it turned out to be a steep 1.2 km uphill route that’s unsuitable for regular cars, with a 4x4 practically needed. I damaged my car’s clutch getting up there. The path is extremely narrow, with no room to maneuver if another vehicle comes along, and buildings all around make it even more difficult. When I asked for a map, I was told to enter Ooty and call because it was easy to find. It seems some guests cancel once they see the road. I booked a two-day family stay through Agoda at ₹3000, based on a lot of positive-looking reviews. When I called the resort to check, they said the real price was ₹4200 and warned they wouldn’t honor Agoda bookings. I paid anyway after being swayed by those glowing reviews, which now seem questionable. We also had to pay in full before we could even see the room. The advertised “view” was just concrete buildings, without greenery or scenery. For a family trip, I’d strongly advise against taking the risk. It might suit a group of bachelors wanting a secluded place to hang out and drink.
