They only take cash, even for a bill of around Rs 10k, which is a lot to carry around. I also wondered whether they avoid reporting the money as income and keep it without paying tax. The room rate felt far too high for what the hotel provides, and in cold Shillong they gave us just one thin blanket that wasn't warm enough. A very bad stay.

The rooms were comfortable enough, and the location made it easy to get around. We had a lovely stay, helped along by staff who were friendly, welcoming, and quick to assist. I'd recommend the rainbow hotel.

At checkout, the receptionist wouldn't accept online payment. It's hard to assume everyone carries that much cash, so leaving the hotel was a really bad experience. Come here only if you're sure you'll have cash on hand.

The room wasn't clean, and the service left me very disappointed. I booked a double bedroom, but it had two wooden cots pushed together. Also, be aware that they don't take online payments.

The place was clean, tidy, and cozy. The staff were gentle, helpful, and very polite. I'd happily stay here again.
