Kowsar Tehran Hotel

I stayed two nights in summer 2023. The staff were pleasant, and cleanliness in the room, corridor, and lobby was acceptable. The sheets, mattress, and bedspread were clean, too. The windows were dirty, perhaps because of the hotel’s construction and renovation. I noticed the same issue at Asman Hotel. Noise from neighboring rooms came through a little, and one morning I returned to find my room door open, although nothing had been taken. The door-closing mechanism seems to have a problem. The hotel stands on 11,000 square meters beside the Zayandeh River in Isfahan, next to the historic 33 Pol bridge. It has two main buildings and a courtyard; the turquoise building was built more recently. It began operating in 1350 under the Sheraton Hotels Group, then took the name Kausar International Hotel. In my view, its building has been renovated better than those of other renovated hotels in Iran. It has a classic parking lot. Food quality and variety were average, and there was no special welcome. The breakfast menu was simple; I thought Isfahan Sky Hotel’s breakfast was better. Dinner was average and more expensive than good restaurants in Isfahan. The body and hair shampoos were poor quality. Maybe Isfahan’s water quality is low, since the shampoo didn’t foam. I also find it strange that hotels in Iran, compared with five-star hotels elsewhere, use containers for toilet liquid, lotion, and shampoo in the bathroom. There’s no hotel toilet, and you have to open and close a small bottle to wash your hands while the shampoo bottle is soaked in shampoo. Compared with the four-star Hilton Hotel in The Hague, where I’ve stayed, this five-star hotel gets lower marks, perhaps because of its old structure and the lack of foreign tourists. We only spent one night here in April 2023. The location was nice, and the room was spacious. The bathroom was clean and a comfortable size, neither too large nor too small. Breakfast was included in the room rate, with plenty of choices, and was satisfactory.

The place was clean, but the building and equipment are very old. The cooling system was broken, so the room was hot. Breakfast was about what I’d expect from a three-star hotel.

In a prime area, this hotel has clean, neat, spacious rooms with huge bathrooms and bathtubs. Staff are courteous and speak English. They clean the room daily and restock toiletries and the minibar. Room service also includes laundry pickup and drop-off.
