Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

The rooms are big, and the staff are excellent, treating their guests very well. The location is super central, so you can walk to most places of interest if you’re able. There’s no parking at the hotel, but you can park on the street or use one of the nearby garages. Our large Toyota Land Cruiser fit fine in the garage. The one drawback is that the walls are extremely thin. If that bothers you, you should look for a hotel further out.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the room was spotless, with a very comfortable bed and everything feeling brand new. The bathroom was clean and high quality too. Konsulat Hotel in Reykjavik has a beautiful, cozy 70s-80s retro feel, with dark leather and warm lighting. It’s pricier than other hotels in Reykjavik, but the comfort and service made that feel justified. A really great stay.

Being able to see the New Year’s fireworks from the roof terrace on our floor was a real highlight. We had room 402 for two nights, December 31st to January 2nd, and found it clean, quiet, and properly dark at night. The minibar was included and had beer, alcohol-free beer, soft drinks, and water. The hotel is right in the middle of things: Laugavegur is under five minutes away, Harpa about five minutes, and the Old Harbor around 5-7 minutes on foot. Rainbow Street is a few blocks away, while Hallgrimskirkja is an easy 10-12 minute uphill walk. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and everyone we met on staff was helpful and professional. We didn’t try breakfast or the bathhouse. There’s no parking at the hotel, but a car park is less than a minute away. We left the car there for two days and were charged 6000 ISK. A very convenient spot for a New Year’s visit.

Breakfast was great, and we also had a lovely time in the thermal spa and sauna. The front desk staff were so friendly that we felt welcome right away. We appreciated the welcome gift and the happy hour for Diamond guests. Would happily come back.
