There is a view of Casamicciola harbor, but that doesn't justify nightly rates well over €100, especially when luxury places with a thermal pool and spa are available. Ischia and Capri are famous islands, and a place like this shouldn't be called a hotel. Maybe in the days when vacations existed it would have been called a guesthouse. It's very basic and looks like its last renovation was probably just after the war. There's no elevator or air conditioning. The rooms are dated and basic, with nowhere for luggage, and the twin beds can be pushed together if needed. The bathroom window only opens partway, perhaps because of the shower stall, which doesn't seal and floods the bathroom every time. There's also a small pool that may not meet hygiene standards. Breakfast felt like a farce: discount items with their packaging removed, served on a terrace with a few plants. It was expensive, and we were paying for a harbor view of buildings that have needed renovation for years. Despite what the website says, there is no parking unless you can find a spot on the street. The professionalism mentioned in some reviews wasn't our experience. Maybe people are complacent, or maybe everyone travels differently. My husband and I don't recommend it. The stay detracted from the beauty of Ischia's flavors and aromas and the lovely Amalfi Coast, and it wasn't even cheap.

The room was comfortable and had a breathtaking terrace view, though it was a little dated. The pool had a broken whirlpool tub and wasn't always clean, and the entrance nearest the center was blocked by a broken gate. Hygiene was another drawback. Even so, we found the staff five-star friendly, hospitable, and kind. Aside from those problems, I'd recommend it for good value.

My reservation at Pithaecausa was changed for work reasons, and the contract said I should get my money back within 24 hours. I had to contact Expedia three times, and the refund took a week. TripAdvisor has also removed my review three times. I recently found out that negative reviews there are deleted for commission, which would explain the misleading positive reviews about this place. As for the hotel itself, it's dated and needs a full renovation. There's no elevator, air conditioning, or parking, and the location is inconvenient. Breakfast is cheap packaged food, and the view isn't anything special. There's a lot to be said about the staff's professionalism, too. Since a hotel is such a big part of a vacation, I'd avoid this one.

The owner made us feel very welcome and was so helpful, and the staff were courteous and kind throughout. Our room was bright and clean. We had a wonderful stay last weekend, with a lovely view and a great location. I highly recommend it.
