Hotel Hermitage

We’d read a few reviews that nearly made us cancel, and that would have been a mistake. Our room, 409, had a view of Ponte Vecchio, and we slept with the windows open. There was only the usual street noise, nothing that bothered us, despite hearing there could be noise on the 4th floor. The location is ideal, the rooftop restaurant is top flight, breakfast excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect, and the hotel was stunning and clean, with an amazing breakfast. Allegra deserves a special thank you for arranging a car from the airport and a taxi to our next stop, a small town in Tuscany. My mom and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Hermitage. We’ll recommend it to friends and family and definitely come back.

The fourth floor was incredibly noisy and really disrupted my sleep. For hours late at night there was loud banging, as if someone were hammering a wall, along with chairs scraping and things dropping from above. It was frustrating because everything else was so nice: the room was very clean, the jacuzzi bathtub excellent, and the staff kind. If you’re not a light sleeper, I think this hotel could work for you.

Reception service was great, but I was surprised by the room after booking based on the reviews. It was small and a bit tired, though acceptable. Room 410’s bathroom, however, was awful, tiny and grimy. The shower made me feel icky, with black mould, rust, and broken tiles. At 300 euros a night, I really didn’t expect that. Breakfast was only okay: a nice room, but the croissant was bready and not good, the coffee weak, and service in the breakfast room poor. I guess they take tourists for granted!
