Tourist House

The staff were all kind and helpful, and the hotel is in a great spot near the station. It was quiet at night, too. My room had an unusual layout, which was fine, but there were quite a few flying insects. Supplies like toilet paper also weren’t replenished enough.

For the price, I’d stay here again. It’s a good two-star hotel in a location that’s hard to beat. Cristina was great, very helpful and full of good restaurant suggestions. She gave me the one room with a balcony overlooking a neighboring hotel courtyard. There wasn’t much to look at, but having the balcony was nice. The furnishings are basic, as you’d expect, and the bed was a firm foam mattress, which suited me, though some people might prefer something softer. I don’t spend much time in my room when I travel, so that was fine. Breakfast was a decent quick start, with yogurt, baked goods, coffee, and the usual things. My room was quiet apart from one spell of someone stomping around upstairs for about five minutes. I hadn’t thought there were floors above, but there may be apartments. There’s no elevator, so be ready for stairs, and the desk isn’t staffed around the clock, so you use a code after hours.

The location is handy for the main tourist spots, and I had a nice stay on my weekend trip. The hotel seemed clean and was very quiet, with no noisy neighbors or staff outside. I was traveling alone, and the room was enough for one person. The furniture looked a little old, but that didn’t bother me. It stayed cool even in summer, so I never used the AC. The room had an unusual layout, with a corridor to get to the bathroom, but the bathroom itself was nice and clean.

Tourist House is a practical, affordable pick for a short stay in central Florence. It’s near the railway station and right in the city center. The rooms are small but cozy, with the basic things you need, and breakfast is a light, typical hotel spread. The staff treated us very politely. Don’t come expecting luxury, but for a reasonably priced city-center stay, it’s a good choice.
