I lost the full payment for a room I never got to use. The listing said reception was open until midnight, while some reviews said there was a 24-hour front desk, which was confusing. I was turned away even though I was only 15 minutes late. Their explanation that “the hotel is open 24 hours” made no sense to me, since guests can obviously leave the building at night. I think they should at least refund the cleaning fee. A warning if you might arrive a little late.

I told Hotel San Biagio from the beginning that my flight meant I would arrive around 1 AM, yet they accepted my non-refundable booking and later said I couldn't check in until 7 AM. I was charged for a night they wouldn't let me use. When I asked for a refund or to shift the reservation dates, they refused and offered no reasonable help. Their Booking.com listing says check-in is available until 00:00 but doesn't warn that an agreed late arrival can still be turned away. To me, the listing is misleading and they took payment for a service they weren't going to provide. I found the whole thing dishonest, deceptive, unprofessional and disrespectful. I would never stay there again and would advise others to avoid it. There are plenty of nearby hotels that respect their guests and keep their commitments.

We were left out on the street at 2am midnight. When we tried to check in the next day, they said the booking had been cancelled as a no-show. The owners and staff were rude and unprofessional. They seem to care only about taking your money, not providing the promised service. Avoid this place. I'd pay a few extra bucks to stay somewhere else.

The place was clean and quiet, and the location is great for getting to Central station, about a 10 minute walk or 3-4 minutes by bus. There aren't many amenities, and a mini fridge would be a nice addition. Still, it's a good place to stay or transit through.

We were moved to a different room on the second night without being asked. Staff had gone through our belongings and shifted them without our knowledge or consent, then sent a message saying they'd done it. My friend's perfume bottle, packed in a bag inside another bag as required at the airport, had been broken, though the perfume hadn't leaked. That made us feel they had gone through our bags. When we got back, the person barely on duty at reception didn't know what had happened and asked us to wait for the owner. She arrived around 23:00-23:15, annoyed that we were making a fuss. She said she'd been looking for another room, but admitted entering without consent, searching and squeezing our things, and moving them for us. When I tried to explain privacy, she said that as the owner she had the right to do this and that customers had no right to privacy. Going up to the new room, we understood why we'd been moved: so someone else could use the first room we'd been assigned on day one, even though the heat didn't work and it was blind in every way. It seemed like they'd be given the same story. On the first night we had been put in a small, narrow, dirty room. There were hairs on the bedding, dirty furniture and dirty toilets. The bathroom was awful. The toilet was pressed against the wall on one side, so you had to sit sideways, and there was no proper bathtub or shower. The improvised setup sent water into the room. The heating didn't work, even though it was 3 degrees outside. The owner came in angry that we had complained, said she couldn't do anything because the hotel was full, and told us to use a blanket while she tried to find us another room the next day. She kept saying she didn't know English well, though she understood perfectly. They also make you leave your room key at reception. After this, I suspect they may enter other guests' rooms without their knowledge or consent too.
