Sonder Missori

The room smelled so bad that I got sick, and there was black mold on the bathroom walls, drain, and ceiling. I called early in the day and was told maintenance would deal with it and clean the room, but nobody came. After being out all day, I called again and learned there’s no housekeeping at this location. The front desk gave us a bottle of spray cleaner, which didn’t remove the mold. We were extremely disappointed. Don’t stay there.

We spent two nights here, and the bed was comfortable with surprisingly good pillows that weren’t overstuffed. The hotel is in the heart of the city, about 700 meters from the Duomo. The window setup was a real problem, though: there was a big gap between it and the curtain, so light came in all night and early in the morning and made sleeping difficult.

We were travelling from Canada to Milan and stayed at the Sonder. One evening, a staff member went out of his way to find us a microwave so we could reheat our food. He was really kind and supportive, and the service was exceptional. I’ll stay here again next time I visit.

I’ve stayed here twice. It’s a great location in the center of Milano, close to everything, and the rooms look nice. The renovation feels poorly done, though, and parts like the bathroom floor looked worn, which I wouldn’t expect. It’s very hard to reach the hotel by phone, and email replies were incorrect. I was told by email my late checkout was approved, but the hotel then said they couldn’t honor it.
