Hotel Caravel

The bus stop is right across from the hotel, and it's about a 20-minute ride to the Colosseum, or a five-minute Uber trip. The rooms are modern, spacious, clean, and have nice balconies overlooking other apartments. Breakfast was very good, with a wide choice of pastries, hot food, and drinks.

We had a very pleasant stay, and the hotel was close to everything we wanted to explore. The staff were attentive and accommodating, and the food service was decent. There's also a restaurant next door that's very convenient and has delicious food and drinks. The only downside was ants in our room. We noticed them on our last night, so there wasn't time to tell the front desk. I'd recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Breakfast had an excellent selection, including an outstanding carrot, lemon, and orange blended juice. An older man was very helpful on Wed Oct 29, and as we were leaving, a new young staff member called us a cab and came outside to explain things, which was very nice. That was our only good interaction, though. The rest of the service wasn't helpful, and the others need a lesson in public relations. Staff came into our rooms despite the do not disturb sign being out, when it was obvious we weren't ready for service. The rooms were OK, but the beds were rock hard and we were uncomfortably warm because the air conditioner wasn't working. After calling the desk, we found out we had to make a special call to get it turned on, which we did on nights two and three. Our balcony faced a 10-story apartment building. The hotel was far outside the city center, and getting back and forth cost over 200 euros. Taxi drivers repeatedly tried to charge us extra, thinking we were tourists who wouldn't notice.

I'm dissatisfied with my recent stay. The room had no refrigerator or electric kettle, and not even a few tea bags or a bottle of drinking water. It didn't have even two complimentary bottles. These basic missing facilities made the stay less comfortable and were disappointing. I'm also genuinely surprised the hotel is rated four stars, because in my opinion its facilities and service fell far below what I'd expect from a four-star property. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves things for future guests.
