Colosseo Panoramic Rooms

Being right across from the Colosseum is hard to beat. Laura was quick to respond on What’s App and very helpful, and she let us check in the morning after our overnight flight. I’d definitely recommend this B and B.

There are restaurants and a convenience store close by, and the metro and Colosseo are both nearby. The room was clean but bare. I was disappointed that seeing the Colosseum meant leaning out of the window. Hospitality was lacking too. Rude notes about the elevator doors were posted all around the building, on every door and window, which made the place feel very unwelcoming.

Claudia stayed in touch on Whatsapp throughout my week, and the service was excellent. I messaged her one morning when there was no hot water, and it was fixed right away. There was daily housekeeping, and they offered to hold my luggage after checkout, though I had an early flight. I could check in as soon as I arrived that morning by telling her when I was leaving the airport. Roberto met me at the front door after I buzzed, carried my bags, and showed me to the room. It had air conditioning, and I could open the windows and shutters for the evening breeze. One tip: if you run the AC in hot weather, switch off the bathroom lights and fan and keep the door shut, or the fan pulls the cold air out of the room. I stayed in room #1 and could see the Colosseum from the window. The property is a set of five rooms in a residential building, with a lobby, rather than a hotel in the American sense. It’s right by the Colosseum metro stop. After the turnstiles, turn right and take the hall to the escalator going up to the street above the Colosseum road. If you miss it, you’ll have to climb the steps outside the Colosseum, and there’s no escalator going down. There are about five steps before you reach the elevator, so it isn’t fully wheelchair accessible. The elevator is an older, quaint one that probably fits three people at most. A brilliant place for a week in Rome. Two thumbs up, 10/10, and I’d stay again.

The owner and receptionist were great, and we really appreciated their hospitality. The Colloseum was literally across the street, with plenty of bars and restaurants right nearby. We loved wandering around Rome without a plan 😊
