Eco bed and breakfast Marela

There’s an elevator and a kitchen with amenities, and you’re close to everything you need, from a pharmacy and supermarket to shops and a bus stop. The place was really clean and comfortable, in an excellent location. A special thank you to Michela for all her help. She was always available on WhatsApp.

The owner responded quickly whenever we had questions. There’s a kitchen you can use for coffee, tea, or the microwave, and a little balcony looking over other apartments. The room was simple but comfortable, on the fourth floor of an apartment building, about 5km from the historic centre. We liked the pizzeria next door and Bar Expresso at the end of the block. We had fresh-squeezed orange juice, cappuccino, croissants, and sandwiches there. Public buses aren’t far away either.

The host was very kind and attentive, and the check-in instructions arrived early and were easy to follow. Rooms were cleaned daily unless you requested no housekeeping, and they kindly left cake for free. The train station is about a 15-minute walk away. I’d be happy to stay again if the kitchen facilities for cooking were available. We booked because we expected to use the kitchen, but at first we were told cooking wasn’t allowed and that the microwave was only for reheating food. On our second-to-last day, we met the host, who said simple quick meals like pasta, or food that wasn’t smelly, were okay. That sounded completely reasonable, but we wish we’d known sooner so we could’ve used the kitchen. The hairdryer didn’t work properly and shut off after 30 seconds. The private external bathroom didn’t feel private: if we didn’t lock it, other people tried to use it, and someone even took our toilet paper on the first night. There’s a sign saying “toilet,” so it looks like it’s for everyone. It really needs to say “private” or “ROOM 2 ONLY.” The entry buzzer was disruptive at night. We were woken up several times, including at 1:30am one night, when people held it down or pressed it repeatedly.

Michela was welcoming, helpful, and easy to reach. She gave us useful information about local places to visit, and we’d stay there again on another trip to Rome. The location was great, really close to the city centre, and our room was clean with enough space for two. Having a balcony made our morning coffee even nicer. There was also cake or cookies waiting for us in the kitchen every day, which was a lovely touch.
