House Monti 1875 Coliseum Suites

We had a clean, cozy room and friendly, helpful staff online, though nobody is on site. Lots of sights are only minutes away, so exploring Rome on foot from here is easy.

Getting inside was a really stressful start for my family and me. The building is just a regular locked block, with no sign saying Hotel or House Monti, and before we arrived nobody sent the entry code or any clue to confirm we had found the right place. The reservation only gave us the street and building number. We eventually located it after walking around for quite a while, but couldn't get in. A passerby or neighbor noticed how tired and frustrated we were, took pity on me, and contacted the person in charge of “house Monti.” They then sent me a series of codes on WhatsApp, which thankfully they had, to get through the entrance, go upstairs, and reach the room. We were standing on a busy sidewalk with people constantly passing and loud music, which made the whole thing extremely stressful. I liked the room once we got in, but the service was the worst I've experienced, basically nonexistent. I texted about checking out and never got any reply.

Luca was very nice and friendly, and the location was great. Still, after just one night, we hadn't slept properly because the bed and pillows were so uncomfortable, and we could hear noise from the other rooms and the street. I'd say this place is suitable for one night at most.

The contact was helpful, and the location is good. The room has no sound insulation, and in the morning the garbage truck makes a lot of noise in the street, so keep that in mind if you sleep late. Also, the fridge works like a freezer. Our breakfast ended up frozen.
