Mellini Palace Suites

It’s an okay distance from the city, though the exact spot felt a little shady, and there wasn’t even a hotel sign on the building. The room was clean enough, but the walls and shower looked dirty and the place didn’t give us a good feeling. The locks were so awkward to use that I worried we might get stuck outside at 11pm. We had trouble with the outside and inner doors, and the elevator also failed once.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. Still, we came away disappointed because the place didn’t feel as nice as we expected. The balcony was unattractive, with noisy air conditioning units, and office workers were right next to us when we looked out. That was our only view. We’d mentioned in the booking and on WhatsApp that we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary, but nobody acknowledged it or offered to help us celebrate. It also didn’t seem like a 4 star hotel, since the facilities were basic. The building is an untidy, unattractive office block, with piles of shoes and bikes outside the hotel entrance. On arrival, we had to step around spit in the elevator. And every morning at 8am, drilling and banging from building and maintenance work woke us up right by our room.

Valerio made a great first impression when we arrived. He gave us a map, talked us through the city and pointed out places to go and well rated spots. Rome’s landmarks were all within easy walking distance, and there were plenty of shops and restaurants around too. We had a fantastic stay at Mellini Palace Suites, and I’d happily recommend it.

The entrance isn’t the prettiest, but the accommodation itself was phenomenal. We spent 5 nights there and had a great stay. The room was super clean, the beds were comfy, and we got fresh towels every day. The staff were really friendly. The location was amazing too, with Rome’s interesting buildings easy to reach.
