Residenza Camilla

The apartment's main plus is how close it is to Tiburtina station. The place is getting old and needs several things fixed. The bunk bed mattresses were dirty and worn, and we reported that to the manager after we left. At €88 for a double bed and a bunk bed, it was too expensive. They did let us leave our backpacks before check-in, and the foreigner who greeted us was friendly.

We were told there was parking, but nobody mentioned it wasn't the B&B's parking or that it would cost extra. We also had trouble with the hot water, and my husband ended up taking a cold shower. The bathroom was tiny and damp, and the room had a small kitchen that couldn't be used.

The internet was dreadful, cutting out every couple of minutes and only coming back for about a minute. The heating barely got lukewarm, and with it 11 degrees Celsius outside last night, sleeping there felt like being on a balcony. The street was deserted and frightening at night, with no lights, even though the rest of Rome is beautiful. The room photos are misleading. They suggest there's a kitchen in every room and that breakfast is served in the communal kitchen, but neither is true. I asked for cooking utensils and was told there was no kitchen. The manager said the same. The receptionist is also the only concierge, and leaves at 8 pm, so after that you're alone in the residence. Even the plants shown in the hotel's ad were dead. I paid 341 euros for six nights and could have done better. It's shameful that sites like Booking advertise this place.

The place was clean and quiet, but the area isn't great, with no bars, restaurants or supermarkets nearby. There was also a wall about a meter from the window, and the WiFi wasn't very good.
