Soggiorno Angelus

The location is a real plus, with several sights within walking distance and plenty of restaurants nearby. The service was friendly, and they’ll call transportation for you. The rooms are roomy, though nothing fancy. It isn’t a bed and breakfast. The bathroom layout was awkward, with a small shower, nowhere to put toiletries, and the bidet so close to the toilet that you have to sit almost sideways. There’s a patio that could be a lovely place to sit and plan your day, but for now it just has a table and a few chairs stacked up.

The old Roman building is beautiful, and the elevator is incredible. The location is right in the city center, close to everything we wanted to see. Our room was clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. It got a little cold at night because of the season, as can happen in old buildings, but the heating was okay. There was no breakfast because of the COVID-19 measures, which was fine with us.

We were grateful for the 24/7 reception and for their help getting us a taxi early Sunday morning. We didn’t get to try the breakfast, but we’d happily stay here again. Soggiorno Angelus is an easy walk from RomaTermini, and the staff kindly let us check in early. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the AC was wonderfully cold, which can be hard to find in an older Rome building. It’s about a 12-minute walk north of the Colosseum, close to restaurants, gelato and bars, yet slightly off the main roads. There was nightlife nearby, but we couldn’t hear it from our room. The elevator is gorgeous and one of the oldest in Italy.

I had to cancel my reservation because of a serious medical issue, even though it was non-refundable, so I never stayed at the hotel. The management offered to return half the amount despite not being required to. I’m grateful they were flexible in that situation.
