Villa Fontana

I’ve visited this area seven times, and even a three-star place in the center was far better for kindness, food, and rooms. Here I was disappointed with the building, and the rooms smelled dirty. The toilet sank lower each time you sat down, and I worried I might hurt myself. The waiters were rude, saying, “That’s what’s there, and you have to eat it.” We paid very little on these package trips, but I still wouldn’t recommend this place.

There’s a lot of potential here, and it’s close to a small shopping center, though about 1 km from the city center. The food was decent for the place’s overall standard. Unfortunately, the property is badly run down and not clean, and both the staff and management were rude.

The mattress was unusable, basically just a sheet with no mattress cover. At dinner, there was a dead insect floating in the wine carafe, lipstick marks on glasses, dried sauce on plates, and dirty cutlery. When we told the waitress, she replaced a glass by banging it on the table, clearly annoyed. The hotel is close to the Golden Church, a few kilometers away, but it’s shabby, poorly maintained, and not very clean. The table service was awful. I’m sorry, but I’d never go back.

Our guide was wonderful and very good at her job. I feel bad for her, because the hotel was terrible. It needs a complete renovation, from the dusty carpet to the bathrooms and chairs, and the management should change. The large building was run down and smelled of mold. The carpet was full of dust, which made our stay suffocating as allergy sufferers. The food was poor and precise.
