A calm place for holidays, good food, hikes, and beautiful views. The rooms are so clean, with a minimal style, and the view is amazing. The pool, sauna, and outdoor areas are great too. Staff were friendly, and since I’m vegan the cook made an extra dish for me, which I really appreciated. Vegans, this is a great choice! Breakfast was fresh, local, and really yummy. I’m definitely going back.

The best part of our stay was the people. From housekeeping and support staff to reception, concierge, waiters, and cooks, everyone seemed competent and sincerely pleasant. That warmth is refreshing compared with the pretentious elitism you find in similar places, and to me it reflects the integrity and high standards of the owner, Herr Stefan Zagler. This was our second visit in two years to the 'Panoramahotel Am Sonnenhang' in Dorf Tirol, in the hills above the historic spa town of Meran. As a family of five, we’ve found it hard to get holiday accommodation that really delivers a pleasant experience for a larger family. After plenty of Airbnb stays, we realized we wanted a more complete package for rest and recovery than a self-catered place could offer. The hotel’s pool area has a breathtaking view across a wide valley, evergreen mountains, and vineyards stretching for miles on both sides. The terrace is thoughtfully laid out, with indoor and outdoor bathing, and spaces for families with children as well as guests wanting quiet relaxation. The outdoor paths and stairs took some getting used to, but once we learned them, we could get around easily. The restaurant is spacious, with room for regular functions, private areas, a buffet, and a bar. Attentive, dedicated service from the waiters and kitchen team made for a wonderful meal. The food gave "gourmet" a new meaning, without exaggeration. Breakfast had the usual breads, cereals, and cheeses, plus fresh local produce and fried dishes made by the Grill Chef. Dinner was just as much of a culinary treat, with creations and wine selections that could stand up to a tough Michelin critic. The entrance and reception are modern, a little minimalistic, and well appointed. Simple, functional design shows the owner’s appreciation for modern and traditional styles. Wooden statues and warm Edison lamps in the hallways are among the thoughtful touches that make this contemporary hotel feel cozy and livable. If you’re looking to relax and recharge, I’d give it serious consideration. You won’t be disappointed.
