The room was acceptable, though the layout was awkward: there was no outlet by the desk, and the TV sat on it. The breakfast quality and service fell short of what I’d expect for the hotel’s price. Food was poor, uncooked, and prepared in advance. It came on plastic plates and cups, and there wasn’t any sign of fruit.

For somewhere meant to be four star, this felt like it wouldn’t make two. The room was worn out, with marks on every wall. The shower was tiny, and the curtain wrapped around me, so I left it open. Water leaked through the wall into the bedroom. The air conditioning didn’t work, the USB charger in the wall was broken, and the only cups were disposable plastic ones.

This was a bad experience and I don’t understand the three or four star rating. The place is old, the restrooms looked dirty and moldy, and the food was merely decent. There was just one outlet in the whole room. The lights often didn’t work, and some took a minute to come on. The two elevators were tiny, fitting only two or three people each.

The breakfast was bland and uninviting. If you end up staying here, I’d suggest the cafe across the road instead, the food and drinks there were excellent. Our tour company, Europamundo, rated the hotel four stars, but the place looked like it came straight out of the Cold War. The lifts were tiny and took ages to get going, slower than a Lada Niva. The rooms were worn and musty enough to make breathing difficult. The bathroom was also worn and tiny, with hardly any space for toiletries. We got one small roll of toilet paper and couldn’t get cold water, so the shower was scalding hot. There was only one power point in the room, awkwardly placed for charging devices. No kettle or coffee-making facilities either, which was annoying and wouldn’t have been useful with so few outlets anyway. The walls seemed paper thin, since we heard doors opening and closing on at least two floors. Absolute rubbish. I’d give it minus one star if I could.
