Casa del Gondoliere

We loved how spacious, warm, and comfortable Casa del Gondoliere felt after a full day out. It was clean, homely, and well equipped, with more room than we often find in Venice apartments. Alessandra met us when we arrived and was easy to reach by message, but otherwise gave us space to enjoy our holiday. We spent seven nights here as a family of four, with our sons aged 10 and 14. Canareggio was a great neighborhood, with plenty of nice bars and restaurants. We liked being away from the crowds in a quieter setting, while still being able to walk to the main sights. We also enjoyed simply getting pleasantly lost around Venice. We took the train to Verona, spent a day in Murano and Burano, and drove to the Noventa Di Piave designer outlet, about half an hour away. Renting a car for one day cost about the same as four bus fares from Venice, and we liked not having to follow a bus timetable. The Secret Itineraries tour at the Doge’s Palace was really interesting and well worth doing. Rain kept us from visiting the FREE roof terrace at the T Fondaco dei Tedeschi by DFS department store this time. I went up on our last Venice trip, though, and the view over the Grand Canal and beyond is wonderful. You need to book online, so check ahead. We all hope to return and would happily stay at Casa del Gondoliere again.

We booked through VRBO and had a great stay. There was lots of sleeping space for our family of five, and the apartment was very clean. Alessandra was a gracious host and helped us at every step. It’s a bit away from the usual tourist spots, but everything is within walking distance, with plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood. The water bus stops are nearby, and the air conditioner works great. The online photos give a fair idea of the place. Definitely recommend it.

Such a great place in a lovely neighborhood! The apartment was clean, stylish, warm, and welcoming. The owner helped us find it and shared tips about local restaurants and events. I'd absolutely stay here again.
