Hotel Bisanzio

We stayed in a family suite in the adjacent building, a very large room considering it’s in a historic 1600's building. The front desk staff were informative, and the breakfast staff were attentive. Breakfast had a nice range of fresh food, and the location was great.

Our bed was incredible, easily 10/10 for comfort. The room was decent, though the TV didn’t seem to find any channels even after I plugged it in, and the wall-mounted hairdryer was awkward to use. The room also felt surprisingly warm with the air conditioning off. Staff were consistently nice and helpful, and the hotel covers the basic services without fuss. We skipped the 15 euro breakfast and went to local cafes instead. Hotel Bisanzio is a solid value for Venice: it costs a little more here, but low season helped, and the location is excellent. Piazza San Marco is a few minutes’ walk away, while the hotel itself sits on a quiet street, a welcome break from the tourist crowds.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and the AC worked. They also came in every day to change the towels and make the beds. It’s only about a five-minute walk to St Mark's square and just seconds from the Zaccaria vaporetto Ferries.

The hotel sits in a quiet little alley, and there’s a boat stop right outside with a direct line to the airport bus terminal. We also went to a small Vivaldi concert at the nearby church, Chiesa della Pietà, and the hotel can sell you tickets. The location really couldn’t be better. The night receptionist was very friendly. The morning receptionist seemed quite serious and a little scary. I loved waking up to the smell of fresh baking, though there weren’t freshly made pastries at breakfast, so I didn’t eat there. The hallway soundproofing wasn’t great, and the lift was out of order during our visit. There was no complimentary tea or coffee either. I’d happily come back. We were there in February, the low season, so summer may be a different story.
