Palazzina Fortuny

We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Palazzina Fortuny, and would come back. The staff were a real highlight, especially handsome Mr. Riccardo, who was welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout. The location is great, roughly a 10-minute walk from both Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, while still feeling removed from the busiest crowds. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The place is charming once you know what to expect: it’s a small, fairly simple Venetian hotel with older furnishings and a tasteful cosmetic refresh. The photos and description give the impression of a fully renovated luxury boutique hotel, which doesn’t quite match. Housekeeping could be better. The room looked clean at first, but there was dust in corners and crevices, and the complimentary water bottles weren’t topped up each day. There’s no breakfast service, though there is a coffee machine in the room. Also, the rooftop terrace advertised by the hotel is only available when booking Suite No. 3. A good, honest place in a fantastic location with wonderful staff. It isn’t a luxury hotel, but we had a great time. Four stars, and good ones.
