THREE DAYS OF COLD SHOWERS. The central location was handy, just a three-minute walk from Rialto Bridge, and the old-style room could have been quite nice. But the cleanliness and service let it down. On arrival we found there was no hot water. We called the receptionist who had checked us in several times, with no answer, except once when she gave a flimsy excuse. We also raised it day after day with the different housekeeping staff we saw each morning. Nothing was done to fix it. The cold water itself was inconvenient, but the real failure was that nobody took action. The receptionist had seemed pleasant at first, though her manner was curt from the start.

Get in touch with the owner before you arrive. The apartment is in the middle of Venice, with everything close by, and the rooms have lovely balconies overlooking the canals.

It’s a spacious, clean apartment with air conditioning. The one issue was the shower, where there wasn’t any hot water. I haven’t brought it up with the owner yet, but I’m guessing they’ll sort it out.

Right in the city center, and Realto is a five-minute walk away. Just keep in mind that the bathroom and toilet are shared with one other room. The apartments are very nice.

It was too cold, and there were no lights in the staircase. The owner seemed friendly at first, then got an attitude. He said he’d bring an extension plug because the kettle had a different plug type, but I never saw him again.
