Valie Hotel Hiroshima

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect, close to everything Hiroshima has to offer. The rooms, though, were pretty bad. After October 16 the A/C switches to heating, so even with 30C outside there was no cool air, and sleeping was terrible. We had three beds, but one was just the sofa converted into a bed. I might as well have slept on the floor.

The rooms were clean, roomy by Japan standards, and quiet enough that we couldn't hear the neighbors. The bathrooms looked new, and the staff were amazing. Air conditioning was only so-so, but it did work. For the price, this is one of the more affordable hotels in Hiroshima, and it's close to everything.

We found the hotel a great value for three nights in Hiroshima. It's beside Hiroshima Castle and very close to the peace memorial museum, with a good okonomiyaki place right next door. Nights were quiet, and the standard rooms were clean. The staff were kind and respectful, though they only speak Japanese, so having Google Translate on your phone is useful. There are two coin-operated washer-dryers on the second floor.

With the temperature still over 80 degrees, the hotel had the unit set to heat and couldn't give me a fan. I spent two hours walking around trying to buy one, but it was too late at night. This has been a miserable, frustrating stay, and I feel like I wasted my hard-earned money here. I hope you don't make the same mistake.
