Yamaichi

We chose the seasonal spider crab plan, and the crab my wife and I were served was the best I've ever had. There was plenty of it, and the rest of the meal was generous too, carefully prepared with gentle flavors that warmed us up. The building has history, and the Japanese-style rooms have a Showa-era atmosphere, but everything was very clean. The landlady was warm and kind, and readily handled our last-minute changes. There isn't an open-air bath, but the indoor bath was well kept, just right in size for the number of guests, and at a comfortable temperature. We came away thoroughly warmed. I'd recommend this inn to anyone who enjoys a Showa-era feel or wants to stay the night and feast on spider crab.

The landlady was so friendly, and we had a lovely chat about all sorts of things. I stayed at the end of January on the spider crab plan. It was my first time trying spider crab, and it was big, sweet, and delicious even without dipping sauce. Dinner and breakfast were both generous and tasty, so I left very satisfied. Thanks to the landlady and the whole staff.

The meals were fantastic, just what you'd expect from an Iso Kappo inn. The spider crab was unlike any crab I've had before, rich and full of crab miso. Even the standard plan came with a boat-shaped serving. We also had local horse mackerel that went down beautifully with sake. They offered rice with sakura shrimp as well as plain rice, but I was already stuffed. Breakfast's Numazu staple was dried horse mackerel. It was small, but freshly grilled and delicious. I ate three bowls of rice. Thanks for the meal! We stayed for one night as a family of four on August 10, 2025, despite the bad weather. We booked the standard plan in early July. The next day the landlady called to confirm, and explained the prices and availability of special-order dishes and what alcohol they had. She was courteous and kind, and even said bringing our own alcohol was fine. 😆 We ordered Heda's specialty spider crab, which costs ¥23,000 per crab this time of year. The road is narrow, though manageable in a smaller car, and there's covered parking across from the inn. Our room was clean. There's only an indoor bath, open from check-in until 11 PM and again from 6 AM to 9 AM. We enjoyed the cypress bath, which was a pleasant temperature. At dinner we saw a whole boiled spider crab for the first time. It was enormous 🤣, but the landlady made quick work of the legs. She said they were surprisingly easy to handle, and she was right: once I snapped a joint and pulled, the meat came out smoothly. She mentioned that crabs that are too big aren't tasty. PayPay is accepted, but credit cards aren't.

Heda Onsen is such a relaxing place. The proprietress and staff are really lovely, the food was delicious, and I'd definitely go back.
