Hotel Gen Omaezaki

I like it because it’s inexpensive.

The facilities are well equipped, and the rooms have plenty of space. I also liked the large table and the wide breakfast selection. It’s such a good hotel. How can they stay in business with service like this? If you’re there for more than one night, I’d really recommend Hotel Gen Omaezaki! 😊

My father slept well at the hotel, even though he couldn’t get proper sleep at home during the power outage. He’s over 80 and had never stayed at a business hotel before, so I went to show him how the room and bathroom worked. The spacious room was easy for him to use, with shoes left at the entrance, and the air conditioning could be adjusted separately in the room. Breakfast was included, and laundry was free. It seemed a lot more comfortable than the business hotels my husband usually uses. I’d booked three nights online through Yahoo! Travel for him, paying by credit card, after my parents’ house escaped damage from the tornado caused by Typhoon No. 15 but lost power. When we saw all the fallen telephone poles, we thought about extending the stay. Thanks to Chubu Electric Power Company and the other power workers, though, electricity came back after about three days in the heat. We decided to leave a day early, knowing there could be a cancellation charge. My father said he simply told the front desk that power was back and he wanted to check out, and no one brought up a fee. The email from Yahoo! Travel afterward showed a reservation change from three nights to two, with only the two-night price listed. I was so pleased that I called to thank them. They explained it was a consideration because of the natural disaster, and I was very grateful. The hotel was good, but what stayed with me most was the thoughtful service. It really comes down to the people, not the building. Thank you so much.

There aren’t any especially notable shops close by, so having a car is useful. Still, supermarkets, convenience stores, and pharmacies are nearby for everyday errands. I was traveling alone for work. The hotel was clean and pleasant, with handy vending machines on every floor. There’s also a manga library, though the books felt a bit old. I enjoyed the free breakfast buffet, especially the thoughtful touches like brown rice and pork miso soup. ☺︎
