The rooms are a little dated, but that gives the hotel some charm. Beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s close to JR Osaka and the subway, with easy access to Kobe and USJ. Towels, pajamas, and other amenities were replaced daily. There’s a small chapel on the eighth floor. The facade was under construction, though we were out during the day and it didn’t cause us any problems.

We spent five nights here, and our stay was generally satisfactory despite some inconveniences from the renovation. Parts of the hotel were blocked off for repair, washing, and painting. The European-style design looked dated, as did the room furniture and wall decor, but the room was fairly spacious by Japanese standards and the beds were comfortable. The lobby is on the eighth floor, and our room was on the twelfth. The location is handy: around five minutes on foot from JR Osaka West Gate, seven from Sakurabashi Gate, and about eight from Herbis Bus Terminal across the road. Staff were helpful, and housekeeping was professional. Used items, bottled mineral water, and tea sachets were replenished, but there was no coffee. There’s no ice machine on every floor, so we called reception to have ice brought up. They responded promptly. The TV had limited channels, all local, with no international options. We didn’t eat at the 14th-floor cafe because friends took us on day trips with breakfast, but we heard walk-in breakfast costs 3,800 yen per adult, which seemed pricey.

The breakfast buffet was a real bright spot. The omelets cooked by the chef were especially delicious, and the spread was on par with nearby luxury hotels. The staff service was fine, and the location suited us: close to Osaka Station, with parking and an underground passage into the city center for bad weather. We stayed two nights in a standard twin room. It didn’t have space to store clothes or a safe, which made things inconvenient and left us feeling uneasy. These are common amenities in most hotels nowadays, so guest convenience didn’t seem to be a priority in this room. With better facilities, I think the hotel could rate higher.

The location by Osaka station is convenient, the design is interesting, and we found the beds comfortable. Staff were excellent, including for the group members who used the laundry service. That laundry is handled as an expensive service rather than coin laundry, so even one item can cost as much as a full coin laundry load. It seems geared more toward business travelers. Luggage forwarding was frustrating because the hotel uses one courier, and the receiving hotel has to be registered with that company. We couldn’t use the service if our next hotel wasn’t registered. There’s a Yamato delivery hub about a five-minute walk away, so we used that instead, though I’d have preferred the hotel option. It’s a good hotel, but keep the laundry and baggage limits in mind if you need those services.

The breakfast was a standout. There are two dining areas, and entering the huge, table-filled, royal-looking hall can feel a little overwhelming at first. It’s a self-serve buffet with impressive variety and quality. The chef made omelets for guests, and it was honestly the best omelet I’ve ever had. The hotel’s exterior and preserved atmosphere inside also made an impression on me. The elegant interiors feel old-world and almost palace-like, and the room has the same style with what you need for a comfortable stay. It’s in the business district, about a ten-minute walk from the nearest metro station. There were downsides in the room: it’s quite small, so opening a suitcase fully was awkward. Some parts of the bathroom had visible black mold. The window view was limited by restrictors and looked onto a neighboring high-rise.
