Hotel Asahi

It was a reasonably priced, good hotel. The building is old but well kept, and everything worked fine. The parking lot is spacious, with the entrance close by. Dinner and breakfast were served in a quiet restaurant, and both were delicious. With little traffic around, it was peaceful and I slept comfortably.

A seaside park is right across from this traditional business hotel, and there's a seafood restaurant nearby. The staff were very friendly.

Dinner was a daily special for 1080 yen including tax, served in the first-floor dining room. Mine came with cold shabu-shabu, sashimi, macaroni salad, chicken and pumpkin stew, rice, and miso soup. You serve yourself rice, and refills are free. It had a gentle, home-style flavor and was delicious. The hotel is a little over a kilometer from Sukumo Station, on the way to Katashima Port, with plenty of parking. It's an older place, though the green lights outside really stand out. The business-hotel room was fairly spacious, with a sofa and a desk, and the bathtub was quite deep.

It was a last-minute trip, so no non-smoking rooms were left. The cigarette stink was like an old pachinko parlor, arcade, or rental car. It was a bargain as a place to sleep while fishing, but that smell was rough. I slept with the window open.
