JR Hotel Clement Takamatsu

The view was excellent, and it was quiet enough for me to get a decent night’s sleep. The rooms are dated, though, and the service was the worst of the six hotels I stayed at in Japan this time, despite the price being the second highest per night. It felt more like a business hotel fare with city hotel prices. I only found out after leaving that there were several services I could have used. The hotel guide website QR code wasn’t accessible, so I didn’t know about them, and the staff weren’t helpful when it came to that. There are lots of cafes around with great food, plus excellent massage and spa places nearby.

The Japanese restaurant on the 1st floor had delicious food and good service. The location is very convenient, just a 2 minute walk to the port and JR station. My room was on the small side, but it was clean, comfortable, and fully functional, with amenities provided. The staff were polite and helpful, and service was quick and efficient. A very pleasant stay!

The breakfast buffet runs from 6:30 to 10am, with plenty of food and seating. It seems to draw all kinds of guests, from solo business travelers to families, special event attendees, and tour groups. My one complaint is the laundry room: two machines don’t seem like enough, especially when the tour groups arrive. I’ve also had to deal with some fairly cranky foreigners there. I’ve stayed here several times and always look forward to coming back. It’s right by the station, and the rooms seem to have been refreshed recently. There are comfy piles of pillows, in-room amenities, and views of the inland sea. It’s my choice when I want a little pampering without overdoing it. There are plenty of outlets by the bed, and the AC is easy to use.

Checkout at noon was later than anywhere else I stayed in Japan. The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, and the high floors have a fantastic view of the castle, port, and Seto inland sea. The location is extremely convenient. Wonderful!
