I was really sleep-deprived and needed somewhere to rest, so I came here asking for a capsule hotel. The woman at the front desk turned me away and said something about it being MEN ONLY. BEWARE, MEN ONLY.

The capsule rooms are clean and comfortable, and breakfast comes in Japanese, Western, or curry options. It’s close to the station, with excellent facilities, and women can stay at the hotel, though the large bathroom is for men only. The public baths have Futamata radium hot springs, Hokkaido's hidden hot spring, plus a sauna and a bedrock bath. Rates are 4 000 yen a night with breakfast, or 3900 yen for capsule use. It’s popular, so reservations are required. A city oasis with excellent value.

The guy at the front desk was super rude. He didn’t ask what we’d come for, just spoke in an aggressive, unfriendly tone and turned us away.

I needed somewhere to spend six hours, from 9 am until my other hotel’s 3 pm check-in, but this place wouldn’t let me check in until 3. Not useful for day use. The area didn’t feel safe to me either.
