The location is close to a bus or metro station, and the area is quiet. There’s free coffee, a personal fridge and a basic hygiene kit. The receptionist in the lobby was charming and very helpful. My room wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. There was a lot of hair and some grime on the floor, possibly spilled food. The AC and exhaust fan were full of dust and need a deep clean. When I switched them on, dust came out, so I chose not to use them. They were noisy too. The shower and toilet are small, but that’s normal for a mid-level hotel in Japan. At around 9,000 yen a night in Shinjuku, having your own room, shower and toilet is hard to find. You get what you pay for, and as a cheap traveller I’d book again anyway. One of the receptionists was a bit rude, an older guy who didn’t smile or acknowledge you. Maybe he’s not happy with his work.

The bed was covered with more curly hair than I’ve ever seen in a hotel. It was super dirty, and the reception guy was extremely rude. I really didn’t feel like I was in Japan. It’s a shame for the Japanese hotel industry.
The air conditioner had visible mold, the room was dusty everywhere, and the whole place smelled damp and musty. My partner and I both had allergic reactions soon after we turned it on. The room was extremely dirty and fell below basic hygiene standards. When I told the staff and asked them to clean or change the room, they just handed me a towel and left me to wipe it myself. They offered no real help or solution, which is unacceptable for a hotel. I later contacted Agoda for support, and they said they couldn’t reach the hotel owner or management. That shows a serious lack of responsibility on the hotel’s part. A terrible stay. Cleanliness, service and accountability were all extremely poor, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
The hotel hygiene is about as bad as its Wi-Fi. If you want to know what it’s like to run out of data while you’re out, choose this room. And don’t say I didn’t warn you about the long walk from the subway. My legs were about to break every day.
The location was great for us, just minutes from the gardens, with access to two different metro lines. The place was clearly the cheapest option available at the time, so we were happy with the deal. Service was friendly and good enough, and there’s a coffee machine in the lobby, which was nice. I knew before booking that the hotel was dated and the rooms were small even by Japanese standards. It isn’t the best hotel you’ll ever stay in, but it was clean apart from a little dust on the bed head. I gave it four stars because of the price. If it costs the same as other hotels, you might want to look elsewhere.
