A short walk across the bridge over the Takeno River brings you to the west side of the coast on Route 11, where Holiday Village of Takeno Coast & Takeno Coastal Camping Ground sits on a hillside. There’s a pleasant wooden trail through the forested coastal mountain, with a few lookout spots. From up there, you can take in all of Takeno and Nekozaki Peninsula, whose outline looks like a cat curled up on the water. Trans-word+ : TGM Japan Guide
Sunrise, sunset, fishing, and fires. It all helps us unwind.
We stopped by for lunch, since we’re also thinking of staying here later and wanted to try the food first. The lunch choices were limited: sashimi set, sushi and tempura set, fried chicken set, and I think udon and soba. The sashimi set cost 2500yen. They seated us beside the tables where dinner was being prepared for overnight guests, choosing a window seat with a good view. The sashimi was arranged nicely with seaweed and other garnishes, and we could take our time eating.
We came with my parents, my husband and me, and all the staff were so pleasant and kind. Dinner was a Kasumi crab course with just the right amount of food, and we really enjoyed it. Breakfast was fun too, with lots of little side dishes to choose from. The miso soup had a lovely deep dashi flavor, and I had a seafood bowl that felt like a real treat first thing in the morning. The hot spring felt a little too warm for me. I know bath temperature is personal, but when I travel I like a lukewarm soak, so it’d be nice if the baths could have different temperatures. I’d be happy to stay here again on another visit. Thank you 😊
A soak in the open-air bath, with the waves nearby and the sky turning colors at sunset, was pure bliss. I felt the day's tiredness disappear, and the water was gentle on my skin. It was easy to lose track of time, though, and stay in until I was practically wrinkled. Outside, the view over San'in Kaigan National Park and the Sea of Japan is so vast that work and everyday worries feel far away. The wind on the terrace was strong enough to leave my hair looking like a burst sea urchin when I tried to drink coffee. Somehow even that felt beautiful, like nature had arranged it. The seafood was a feast through the seasons: sweet spring giant shrimp, translucent white squid in summer, Kasumi crab in autumn that had me quietly focused on peeling it, and winter Matsuba crab that made me rethink all the crab I'd eaten before. Everything tasted fresh and full of the sea's bounty. There was so much temptation that you could overeat and worry about the scale the next day, so it might help to plan your meals. This inn makes it hard to face going back to ordinary life. The comfort, delicious seafood, and warm staff service all made the escape feel even better. After this kind of luxury, you may have to ease yourself back into the usual routine.
