Eco Hotel Sora

This is a Japanese-style hotel, and the shoe rule is strict: every guest has to switch into room slippers. There’s a laundry area too. The washer costs ¥200 for 50 minutes, and the dryer is ¥100 per 15 minutes. It’s easy to reach by bus if you don’t have a car, since it’s right next to bus number 61. You can get free coupons for the public onsen at a nearby hotel. Bento for hiking is available if you ask ahead of the day you need it. Enjoy Yakushima 😍👍🏻🙏🏻

A really nice hotel for getting to jyoumon sugi. The nearest bus stop is Chouo (Chuo). Solo travelers should like the single rooms, which have their own toilet and shower.

A good place to stay while visiting Yakushima.

It was a quiet, pleasant stay, with many solo travelers. Every room is a single bedroom. We used the hotel as our base for exploring Yakushima, and the room was clean and well equipped. Shoes aren’t allowed inside, and have to go in the numbered shoe locker at the entrance. The shared area has a washing machine, dryer, and microwave. On stays of several nights, cleaning happens every four days, so guests need to sort their rubbish and put it in the hallway bins. Fresh towels are left on the door handle each day. This is a bed-and-breakfast hotel, but meals are either eaten out or bought at A-Co-op, a few minutes away by car. They also sell instant noodles and snacks. We didn’t use it, but apparently hikers can order an early morning bento. Our plan came with a pass for the large public bath at the sister hotel next door, Yakushima Green Hotel, for each night we stayed. It’s open 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
