Nethuli Guest Inn and Hostel

We planned to stay two nights with my family, but left for somewhere else on the second day. There were no towels, toilet paper, or even a cup or glass for drinking water, and we felt suffocated all night. The owner said we wouldn't get “seasonal benefits” because it was the off season. It also seemed to me that locals were treated differently. This was the worst stay I've had in Ella, and I don't recommend it. Save your money. You can find much cheaper places with great scenery and reasonable prices. I wouldn't rely on Booking.com to find somewhere, just look around Ella when you arrive. We found good places to suit us at better prices, and this place put me off on the very first day.

The rooms are new and clean, and breakfast was more than we could finish. Viki, the owner, was great and very helpful. It's outside the noisy town center. There's construction on the neighboring building at the moment, and the view is of the surrounding forest.

The room was dirty, with no towels, soap or tea bags. When we asked for cutlery, the owner refused. Communication was poor from the beginning, and when we brought up the problems, he brushed them off by saying, “this is how they operate during the off-season.” Paying guests should get the same service whatever the season. It also seemed like locals were treated differently, which made us more uncomfortable. A really disappointing stay, and I strongly suggest avoiding this place. It wasn't worth the stress or money.

You can look around Ella when you arrive instead of booking ahead.
