The Comfort

Kushana welcomed me so warmly and showed me around his lovely place. It’s spacious and clean, and even has cute pets. He pointed out important landmarks in Kandy and shared tips for planning the rest of my Sri Lanka trip. The property is a little outside the city, but only a short 3 km, 8-minute drive away, with parking on site. My room was roomy too, with a nice sunset view. See you again soon, Kushana!

The hills around the house make for a beautiful view, and Lucy, their sweet dog, was lovely. Breakfast was huge, with lots of options. The hosts are so friendly and helpful that it felt like sleeping at my own home or a friend’s place. It’s outside the main city, but only about eight minutes by Tuktuk, which is easy to find through Uber. Good value, safe, and I’d definitely come back on my next visit to Kandy.

Poornima is such a wonderful host. We had dinner at the house and got to chat with her, and she and her husband Kushana went out of their way to make us feel at home in their big villa. They cooked generous, delicious authentic breakfasts with fresh ingredients. The owners also gave us tips on things to see in and around Kandy, including hidden gems, and even drove us to a place in town for free, stopping at a pharmacy on the way. The rooms are spacious, with hot showers and comfortable beds. We loved the balcony, looking out at the greenery, birds, and monkeys. All at a great price. Up in Kandy’s hills, this homestay was peaceful and restful, away from the town’s noise and bustle. My large, lovely room looked out over coconut trees. The hosts went out of their way to make me comfortable, arranging a private tour as well as beautiful breakfasts and dinners.
