The meals were a real highlight. I don't eat meat or fish, and the vegetable curry spread was incredible, clearly made with care. Dilum, Pavitra and the team welcomed us so warmly. We even had a laugh when my partner tried the very spicy capsicum and we asked for milk, which they brought for free. The room had lots of space, air conditioning, a fridge, a sink for washing dishes and even a large fruit knife. The shower was lovely, with both rain and regular settings, and the bidet pressure was seriously strong. There isn't a safe in the room, so keep that in mind if you need one. The gated entrance and the area felt safe to me. We also tried the reasonably priced ayurveda massages and used the efficient laundry service. After a few busy days in Weligama, Hiru Villa was a quiet place to slow down, close to beautiful secluded beaches. We often saw monkeys, birds and sometimes varans along the way. We'd happily recommend it for the peaceful setting, kind people, good food and fair prices.
