The wedding day was what left me disappointed. I stayed here for a night in September to get ready for my wedding, but there wasn't even a small congratulations or gesture. I know the hotel may not have a regular practice of recognizing special occasions, but for a place calling itself five-star, this should be improved. A small acknowledgment matters when someone is staying for such an important life event. The hotel did send me an automatic birthday greeting recently, which was nice. At another hotel in Austria, staff gave us a handwritten card and a little bottle of wine for our special day. Those small touches don't cost much, but they make a big difference in how you remember a hotel. The place feels a bit tired and not very new. Breakfast was good, and talking with the staff was pleasant. The stay was acceptable, but it didn't quite live up to a five-star standard.

The bar made wonderful drinks, but the smoke was so overwhelming that we finished quickly and left, since smoking is allowed there. The historic hotel is in a perfect spot, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The guest bathrooms could use an update: the tub and shower are combined, the step up is very high, and the shower space is tiny. The heated floors were a nice touch.

Breakfast was superb, and the food was tasty and nicely presented. The bar had a lovely atmosphere, and Misha, the parrot, was a real bonus. Staff were incredibly friendly, and our deluxe room was spacious and comfortable. Fabulous hotel in a perfect location, would definitely recommend it.

The sauna area was nice, the rooms were good, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast had an omelette station and was good. The bar was pleasant, but smoking is allowed, so your clothes will smell as if you'd come home from a night out in the 1900s. The hotel is perfectly placed, a minute from the main square where the Christmas market is held.

Right in Old Town, the Grand Palace Hotel is elegant and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, with modern comforts alongside classic charm. Staff were wonderful from check-in through concierge help, and the on-site dining was exceptional. Luxurious but still welcoming, and a great choice for a high-end stay in Riga.
