Dar Najia

The location is good, and the guy was very attentive. There are two rooms downstairs in the Dar, so maybe you'd be lucky enough to get one. I was upstairs with my children. When I went to make the bed after arriving, I lifted the bedspread and found it full of moths. The duvet cover they gave us had stains, and I don't think it had been washed. Breakfast was passable. We were there with three children, and the lady didn't seem very happy to have us in the house. I don't know what the other Dar places are like, but I wouldn't come back to this one. Be careful with reviews. They charge you "prices" on things so you'll give them high ratings, then you can end up in the sort of situation we had. It was highly rated, and we had to put up with it.

We were looked after by a very welcoming, incredibly kind family who always paid attention to what we needed. The location is right in the heart of the medina, and breakfast was very generous. Truly a fantastic stay.

We spent a week here as a family with Najia, and they treated us like one of their own. Her son, Ayoub, speaks French and did a superb job guiding us through sightseeing and sharing advice. Najia made us incredible tagines and couscous, and we had some wonderful encounters right in the heart of the medina. We highly recommend Riad Najia to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Fez. Vincent, Anais, Léon, and Line.

We booked a room for two nights, but they had apparently confirmed more guests than they had rooms for. We let them know around 4:00 PM that same day that we were coming, so they knew we'd be staying there. Instead of telling us plainly that the rooms were all occupied, they took us to a very shabby house and wanted us to pay about 12 euros more in taxes on top of what we'd already paid. It felt like a place just to get by, and we were taken to the guest room of a man who looked very shady. Other Spaniards had apparently had the exact same experience and were sent there because their riad was full too. We ended up sleeping on sofas in the hall, with no privacy at all. When we left the next day, they didn't even check on us. I'd give it a zero if I could. We were ripped off, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
