We were able to get a table at a very good nearby restaurant at short notice, thanks to the staff, who had also checked in with us a few times before we arrived. They were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast came with a generous selection, and the room was comfortable with a large bed. Getting to the riad meant walking down a back alley off the Medina. The shower over the bathtub was awkward, and I had to step in carefully to avoid slipping. At night, the curtain over the main door didn’t close all the way, so people passing could see into the lit room.

The hosts, Saeed and Frederique, were very kind and attentive. Riad Carllian is close to the lively parts of town and not far from Jamaa el-Fna. Breakfast on the rooftop came with a beautiful view, and we enjoyed the crêpes, fruit, fresh juice, mint tea and coffee.

We were right by the market square, with everything easy to reach, and the guest house itself was stunning and traditional. It was also very quiet, had a hamman, and the service was excellent. Just know that transport into the square is only available in the mornings. The walk to the riad takes about 5-10 minutes, so ask your driver to arrange someone to guide you there. We paid the luggage guy around 40 drams. It’s off an alleyway. The area felt pretty safe, but stay alert and trust your gut. I’d definitely come back.

We came to Marrakech for a long weekend wedding, and the team took great care of us. Sayid, Fazia and the two other ladies whose names we didn’t get were easy to approach and went out of their way to keep us comfortable. They also arranged our airport transfers and helped carry our luggage through the very busy Jemaa el-fnaa, which we really appreciated. A first class place, thank you for looking after us.

The rooftop terrace was amazing, and our room was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful, too. The riad is in the middle of old Marrakesh but sits down a quiet alley, away from the noise.
