Riad Fayrouz

A pleasant riad and welcoming staff.

It's not the easiest place to find, but once there, the receptionist was incredibly friendly and helpful, practically running the place on his own. The riad is in a fantastic location, and the rooms and bathrooms are both large and clean. The rooms also have a TV. The breakfast room is comfortable and decorated in typical Moroccan colors. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade jam and peanut butter plus freshly baked bread. Couldn't ask for more.

If nobody is looking after this hotel, it would be better to close it. The rooms are spacious and it's near the train and bus stations, but it's hard to find. The map pin is a couple of KILOMETERS away from the real location. If you look, it's right next to the Fashion Hotel, in the courtyards on the right. Our room was extremely dirty, as if it hadn't been cleaned before we arrived: dust, hair, stains, and a candy wrapper in the soap dish everywhere. There was no trash can, soap, or shampoo. Towels arrived late, after check-in. The soundproofing was awful, and we could hear people on the stairs and talking. We paid for breakfast and agreed on a time the night before, but didn't get it. The receptionist was sleeping peacefully and hard to wake.

It's inexpensive and close to the train station. You have to ring the bell and wait for someone to let you in because the entrance door stays locked. The bathroom is comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is modest and not especially tasty, though it does include freshly squeezed orange juice.
