Riad Irene

My mum and I had such a lovely trip to Marrakech, and staying in Irene and Pascal’s beautiful riad made it even more special. Our room was comfortable, with its own bathroom, and we looked forward to the delicious breakfast each morning. It was a lovely place to unwind. Thank you both for having us. The owners and helpers were brilliant, so welcoming and happy to help with anything we asked. Our rooms were cozy, peaceful, and nicely decorated, and the WiFi worked perfectly. Breakfast was tasty and homemade too. My family and I had such a great experience here, nothing to complain about. We’d recommend this wonderful place 🤩

For a stay longer than a few days, it wasn’t great that we couldn’t use the kitchen. It felt like we were guests in someone’s home and only somewhat welcome. Laundry could be done, which was nice, but make sure you agree exactly what you want and what it will cost so there are no surprise charges. The same goes for extras. A bottle of water costs ten times what you’d pay at a local store. The bed was OK, but none of the room doors had locks, so take care with valuables. WiFi kept dropping out and its speed was unpredictable. We spent three weeks in a riad in Fes and had none of these issues: our room locked, we could use the kitchen, the WiFi was reliable, and we could do laundry ourselves for free. Maybe Marrakesh is different.

The only real hassle was finding the place. Most taxi drivers didn’t know where Riad Irene was, so we had to guide them with Google Maps. Once there, we had a great four-day stay. The staff were super friendly and handled all the things we asked for. It was clean, had free WiFi, and the breakfast was generous enough for two, just like the portions in the picture. There’s a lovely little shop two minutes away on foot, and it’s about a ten-minute taxi ride to Jemaa el-Fnaa, YSL museum, Ben Youseff, and other sights.
